My Fitness Valentine

We all love to exercise! Right?

Probably not. Too often it becomes a chore. Just one more easy-to-avoid item on an overcrowded to-do list. And it's a chore that reminds us there is something we need to change, which makes it easy to push to the backs of our minds.

That's why we need help. Support. Accountability. The best thing that you can do to increase the chances of success along the long, sometimes bumpy path to your fitness goals is to have a partner. Partners make things easier. I'm not talking about a romantic partner but any one who will give you some kind of support.

A partner, or partners don't have to share the exact same goal you do. They just have to have a shared desire to see you reach your own goals…and in turn you provide the support that can help them reach theirs.

The world is, unfortunately, full of people who will try to tell you that your goals don't matter, that you won't be able to reach them. People who will constantly point out all the ways you might fail, and subtly try to convince you that you shouldn't even try. Just give up. Screw those people. They suck. They are really saying those things because they're too afraid of failing to make any positive changes for themselves, and so they'd rather you not have any success either because that would just reinforce their own insecurities, so just eat this huge piece of cheesecake…but they still suck.

That's why it's important to have people around you who believe in you and want you to succeed. This is true in life. It's true in relationships, and it's true in fitness. You need people who inspire you to reach your goals, who won't try to sabotage them or criticize when you stumble, but will still hold you accountable.

So find someone, anyone, you can trust and count on to help keep you on the straight and narrow and help you get over the humps. Because the long road to change is a hard one to walk alone…..and invite anyone who tries to sabotage you to take a hike. Preferably with you.

Happy valentines day!
